ESE:O in Johannesburg to participate in the program of the Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA)

Soledad Falabella, director of ESE:O, and Sebastian Brett were in Johannesburg,  South Africa, from November 30 until December 9 to participate as instructors in the second Joint Advanced Seminar (JAS2) of the program of the Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA). From April 2011 ESE:O has run an online academic writing workshop with 25 CARTA fellows who are researchers in 9 universities and research centers in sub-Saharan Africa  and are inscribed in CARTA’s program for PhD. candidates.

Soledad and Sebastian gave writing clinics to the fellows, meeting them face-to-face for the first time after 8 months intensive work using ESE:O’s teaching platform, email and Skype.  They also presented ESEO:’s work to the fellows’ academic  supervisors , showed them how to use ESE:O’s platform and held a workshop to exchange ideas about academic supervisión.

In addition, Soledad gave a talk about the philosophy and work of ESE:O in the Marie Curie amphitheater of the School of Public Health at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS).
